Most likely, you have heard the buzz about the wireless Internet.  Possibly you have seen the full-page ads in Crain's Chicago Business, or your mobile phone company has tried to offer it to you.  However, you probably have not used the mobile Internet yourself.  That is because its glory days are in the future, not the present.  Thirdwave can help you with your wireless Internet needs - present or future.

Why would anyone want the wireless Internet?  Simply put, it allows you and your customers to access information from wherever they may be.  This makes it ideal for time-sensitive information such as account balances, the weather and sports scores.  It can also be used to fill time while on the train home after work, or during that difficult-to-use fifteen minutes between meetings.  Like the wired Internet, wireless Newermedia solutions can be used both for public Web sites and for internal applications.  In addition to these benefits, wireless Internet does not require fancy, expensive equipment.  It works with an ordinary cellular phone, although it can also be viewed on PDA's and other handheld computing devices.

Thirdwave has created two wireless Internet demonstration sites.  The first is a corporate site, to explain who we are and what we do.  In addition, it offers directions to our office.  For example, if you have just exited the CTA, you can consult the site to find out where to go next.  (This sort of timely information is why the wireless Internet is so useful.)  It can be viewed from your mobile phone at "wap.newermedia.com".

The second is a sample demonstration site called Wap 'N' Go.  Although a work in progress, it offers information via WAP useful for people who are on the go.  (WAP, or Wireless Application Protocol, is another name for the wireless Internet.)  Timetables for two of the Metra commuter train lines are offered.  In addition, coordinates for most of Chicago's streets can be looked up, allowing one to find addresses on lesser-known streets.  Finally, the site offers a mini-portal of links to interesting WAP sites that may not be on your mobile provider's portal.  This site can be viewed at "wapngo.newermedia.com".

The wireless Internet can be a boon to your customers, giving them access to your information from wherever they may be.  It can make your employees more efficient, allowing them to access needed information or provide updates from anywhere in the field.  If you believe the wireless Internet can improve your organization, Thirdwave can create a wireless Newermedia solution to fulfill that need.
