The name Thirdwave is derived from the book "The Third Wave" by Alvin Toffler, originally published in 1984. Mr. Toffler is a world-renowned futurist and has authored several books, including "Future Shock" and most recently "War and Anti-War".
Toffler contends the first "wave" of global change was the Agricultural Revolution and the second the Industrial Revolution. The third wave of global transformation has already begun, according to Toffler, and it is the Technology Revolution. Information has become a key resource in society, a virtual currency. The present is often popularly referred to as the Information Age. Toffler goes as far as to contend that differences in "class" will eventually be drawn according to who has access to information and who doesn't.
Another aspect of the third wave is the shift from maintaining the status quo to expressing and embracing individuality. The cookie-cutter approach to products and services is no longer acceptable to a sizable portion, perhaps a majority, of our global society. The demand for customization prompts the need for more information about individuals. And that's where we come in. At Thirdwave, we recognize the value of your information and understand that the ability to capture, maintain and manipulate that information is a determining factor in your success.
The name and the company have been a perfect fit from the beginning.
